The Reading Hut®
"On a mission to inspire every child to read, learn, and find joy in books. To achieve this, we must stop making learning to read so difficult for so many."
Reading Matters!
Children want to learn to read independently as quickly as possible because it gives them a sense of independence, accomplishment, and self-confidence. This autonomy helps them build critical thinking and problem-solving skills, fostering a sense of pride and competence as they master new tasks. Our team works hard to create solutions for next generation learners, to prevent difficulties in learning to read and facilitate reading for pleasure and knowledge far earlier. Buy Word Mapping Mastery to learn how!
We SHOW the Code: Graphemes (Sound Pics®) are presented through Code Mapping®, and Phonemes are represented via Monster Mapping® using Phonemies. This is the NextGen Letters and Sounds approach, designed for learners who simply want to reach the 'reading for pleasure and meaning' stage as quickly as possible, and for parents and teachers who —and for parents and teachers who want to explore rich content, not phonics in isolation."
Next Gen learners are ready for change. Changes that prevent learning difficulties.
I am spending far too much time undoing the effects of whole class synthetic phonics on children who think and learn differently. I often don't get to work with them until they have become instructional casualties and 'different' is part of their EHC plan.
We not change the curriculum and assessment system and ensure that at least 95% of children can read before they enter Key Stage 2? I have already shown how this can be done in Australia when I introduced the Speech Sound Pics (SSP) Approach. SSP is not 'synthetic phonics' however phonics is taught systematically and explicitly!
"The call for evidence invites stakeholders to submit proposals on improving the curriculum and assessment system. This step is crucial for the review process, with the gathered material aiding the panel in making its first recommendations next year.
Note, this is not a consultation; we are not seeking views on specific recommendations yet. Instead, we want feedback on what works, what doesn’t, and potential improvements."
